12/9/13 We have so many fun activities planned before we go on winter break. We will have a pajama and movie day on December 18th, students may come dressed to school in their pajamas all day. Also on the 18th students will have their report cards sent home with them. On December 11th we will be watching a live presentation on Fractals and technology! 12/2/13 I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Break. Just before the break our class participated in Turkey Olympics, we competed against the other 3rd grade classes in energetic and athletic activities and we had fun! Be on the look out for pictures of this event. I am asking students to bring 1 pair of computer headphones (with cushions) to use for the computer lab and they will be stored in the classroom. I would like to thank all the parents for their support last week, we are finally back in our classroom!
11/12/13 Please click on the homework link and look under the math section for a Khan Academy video on multiplication. Use the video as review that your child can use.
11/11/13 UPDATE: Mini Society (the project that we wrote about in last week's parent letter) has been canceled for December 6th please note students will no longer have to complete this project in December. We will start the project later on in the school year and let everyone know the due date.

10/29/13 Check out our new slideshow under the Pictures link of this webpage! We will be having an age appropriate discussion on HIV/AIDS with students today for Health Day. If you would like to see the powerpoint that was used please email me. We had so much fun at Harvest fest thanks to everyone for coming and to James' mom and Emmanuel's grandparents for helping with our booth! 9/30/13 Students interested in trying out for basketball: The tryout dates are Monday September 30th at 6:00-7:30pm in the school gym for students ages 7 to 8. Last week students ages 9 to 10 had try outs. Please read the parent letter attached to this week's homework packet, it has information on Jog-a-thon, Thematic Fridays, Take Your Parent to Lunch, and Backpack Reader Activity for this week. Parent Teacher Conferences are quickly approaching. Please sign up for a date!
9/24/13 There is still time to sign up for conferences for October. Stop by my classroom to sign up. As a reminder: Students are responsible for receiving homework packets on Monday but I try to support students by supplying it online as well. We will be visiting the computer lab for the first time next week to complete Discovery Education Assessments. We are excited! Jog a Thon is October 4th (next Friday). We are in the transition to finding out how to scan the weekly homework and word sorts using our new computer system. 9/16/13 This weeks homework has a new component to it, called The Backpack Reader Project every week your child will be reading a book, answering comprehension questions with their parents/guardian, and creating a small project about the book. Click on the Homework link of this webpage to find out what the project is for this week.

9/2/13 We are back from our 3 day weekend! So, happy to see everyone again. Click on the homework section of our webpage for this week's spelling words and math work pages (with an answer key for parents to check off their child's homework). Last month we spent Fridays cleaning our campus below is a picture of all the 3rd grade classes after pulling weeds that filled more than 8 garbage bags. Lots of hard work from these 3rd graders!
